About the Role
The Assistant Coach at Petra Sports Academy plays a crucial role in supporting the Head Coach and ensuring the effective development of players within the academy. This position involves assisting in the planning and execution of training sessions, providing individualized coaching, and fostering a positive and professional environment for young athletes.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Coaching Certifications: Hold relevant coaching certifications such as a AFC/AIFF C Diploma or equivalent. Higher certifications are advantageous.
Experience: Minimum of 3-4 years of coaching experience, preferably at a youth or academy level. Experience as a player is also beneficial.
Education: A degree in Physical Education, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of football tactics, techniques, and training methodologies.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively convey instructions and feedback to players of varying ages and skill levels.
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in using performance analysis tools and software to analyze player performance and training effectiveness.
Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach, other coaching staff, and support personnel. Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide players.
First Aid Certification: Possession of a valid first aid certificate is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Coach:
1. Assist in designing and conducting training sessions.
2. Develop game strategies and prepare for matches.
3. Implement the Head Coach's vision and tactical plans.
Player Development:
1. Work closely with players to enhance their technical skills, tactical understanding, and overall performance.
2. Provide individualized coaching to address specific needs and areas for improvement.
3. Monitor and track player progress, offering regular feedback and assessments.
Match Preparation:
1. Help analyze opponents and prepare match reports.
2. Assist in developing and communicating game plans.
3. Support the team during matches, offering tactical insights and motivational support.
Technical Drills and Training:
1. Design and implement technical drills focusing on areas such as passing, shooting, dribbling, and defending.
2. Ensure training sessions are engaging, challenging, and aligned with the academy’s development philosophy.
Performance Analysis:
1. Utilize video analysis tools to review training sessions and matches.
2. Provide detailed feedback to players and coaching staff based on performance data.
Administrative Duties:
1. Assist with maintaining training records and managing equipment.
2. Help organize travel arrangements for away games.
3. Ensure all administrative tasks are completed promptly and accurately.
4. Mentorship and Role-Modeling:
Act as a mentor and role model for young players.
1. Promote positive attitudes, sportsmanship, and a strong work ethic.
2. Foster a supportive and inclusive team environment.
Health and Safety:
1. Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all players during training sessions and matches.
2. Follow and enforce all academy policies and procedures related to player safety.
